What a gas stove and hob installation involves
The counter is cut where a hob drops in, the gas line is run and sized for the burner load, the appliance is connected with the correct fitting, the installation is pressure-tested, and ventilation is checked against SANS 10087-1. What moves the price
- Distance from cylinder to appliance. Every extra metre of pipe, and every wall it passes through, adds to the run.
- Counter work. A hob dropping into stone costs more to cut than into laminate.
- Cylinder siting. Cylinders live outside, restrained and ventilated. A long route from the only legal cylinder position to the kitchen is the usual surprise.
- Number of appliances. A hob and a geyser done on one visit share the line, the labour and the call-out.
